Nuit Blanche Toronto 2007

I went to Nuit Blanche to take photos. I ignored good judgment and left two tripods sitting near the front door. Never again. It was fun , many interesting things to see and hear. Some were not particularly impressive but I don’t think they should stop – I think they should do more, just for the sake of doing it at this event. I think they should close more roads around the venues. I was surprised to see cars in Kensington. There was a long lineup for the Bay Subway, and fairly long lines at other venues, enough to deter me a few times. Next time I’m going to wait until later to start, probably 11 or 12 to avoid the crowds who I assume start at 7 or 8.

The Mcmichael Gallery

I remembered going here as a kid and was looking forward to returning. Now I regret paying $15 to get in, I strongly disliked most of the artwork. One of the featured artist’s work stood out for me, every painting I saw of his – Lawren Harris. The rest of it seemed more worthy of a garage sale than a gallery, especially Robert Bateman. I really don’t understand the appeal of his paintings at all. There are paths around the building that are decent, merging with the Humber river public pathways.
