NASCAR Okays Using Car As Weapon on Opponents Crew Members

After Kurt Busch drove into Tony Stewart’s car on pit lane last week despite the jackman being out beside the car, NASCAR has decided that trying to injure crew members only warrants a fine and a small points penalty. While I personally think the low-speed car-to-car angry exchanges warrant this kind of slap on the wrist, I think their decision not to park Kurt Busch for a number of races basically says they don’t care about pit road safety that much, our officials and team’s crew are expendable. I love the quote from a NASCAR official on the decision – “We felt like we got everybody’s attention”. Yeah that you’re a bunch of morons who care more about TV ratings than the lives of the people who work in your sport. At least in on track skirmishes both people have a 3400lb blanket of steel to protect them.
